What’s been going on behind the scenes at Adkins Arboretum’s Native Plant Nursery?  We’re starting to propagate and evaluate select native plant species that may have value to both ornamental horticulture and sustainable landscaping!  Last summer and fall, seeds were scouted and collected throughout the Arboretum grounds and nearby areas by a core group of volunteers.

Join us for an enjoyable day of sowing these seeds at the Arboretum’s Native Plant Nursery with horticulturist Leslie Hunter Cario. We’ll learn about plant growth requirements, materials, and seeding technique.  Plants started by workshop participants will be grown out in the nursery, for future evaluation in trial beds.

We’ll be working hands-on in the potting shed and greenhouse, so please dress for the weather, and bring a bagged lunch if you wish.

Registration Required.
