Hike to plant communities within the Arboretum for field identification and seed collection, then work on post-harvest handling at the Native Plant Nursery. Learn about sustainable harvest, processing, storage, propagation preparation, and the Native Plant Propagation Research program underway at the Arboretum. Seeds harvested will be cleaned by the group. Some will be sown immediately, while others will be stored for future phases of the research project. Please be prepared for hiking, and bring water bottle and a bagged lunch.

Join horticulturist Leslie Hunter Cario as she shares her experience with growing native plants from seed of local ecotypes. Seeding technique and plant growth requirements will be discussed, along with the basics of seed collection and post-harvest handling.  A variety of native seeds will be available as examples.
