Location: Adkins Arboretum
Time: 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Join us for a fun morning of seed sowing at the Arboretum’s Native Plant Nursery. Horticulturist Leslie Hunter Cario will share her expertise in propagating native plants from seed. We’ll learn about plant growth requirements, materials, and seeding technique. Please feel free to bring any seeds you may have cleaned at the fall seed collection workshop; a variety of other native plant species will be provided. Seeds sown will be shared by program participants for their own gardens and the Native Plant Nursery to supplement production. We’ll be working hands-on in the potting shed and greenhouse, so please dress for the weather, and bring a bagged lunch if you wish.
Location: Chesapeake Green Symposium 2015
Time: 1:05 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
As efforts to clean up the Chesapeake Bay broaden, the
landscape industry is seeing increased opportunities
to incorporate green infrastructure projects. Learn how
conservation landscaping practices can complement the
services your business already provides. We’ll discuss
where these opportunities exist, what new initiatives
are helping to pave the way, and how to make sure
your business doesn’t get left behind. The successful
implementation of these green projects will not only
improve the health of the bay, but also contribute to your
company’s bottom line.
